Did you know that in the 1800s there was a town tradition of surprising your neighbors with a basket of flowers on May 1? This was considered a fun and mischievous way to welcome spring.

About the event

Join as at the Nathaniel Winsor Jr. House on Saturday, May 4th, to make a May Basket for someone special and help revive this community tradition.

Workshops and instruction will begin at 11am and 1pm, however drop-ins are also welcome. All materials provided ~ free and open to the pubic! The 2024 Summer Exhibit, Portraits of Duxbury will be open for viewing.  DRHS Archivist and Historian, Carolyn Ravenscroft will be discussing the portraits and corresponding collections items from 12-2pm. Thank you to the Duxbury Rural and Historical Society for partnering with on this event, which it is being held in conjunction with the day-long Duxbury Community Collaborative event, “Out to See Duxbury.”
